Two fishermen caused a stir earlier this week when they were filmed sailing perilously close to a giant "plug hole" at Ladybower Reservoir in Derbyshire. Severn Trent Water, which owns the reservoir, said the pair had put themselves in a serious danger and warned others not to copy them. Ladybower Reservoir has two of these dramatic-looking "plug holes" but exactly what do they do? One wag on social media joked the plug holes provided a direct route to Australia while another person said they were told as a child there was a giant mincing machine at the bottom. Technically known as shaft spillways but affectionately known as plug holes, the drains were designed to regulate water levels in the reservoir by letting out water when the reservoir became full after prolonged wet spells.

By Lee Brown. December 2, am Updated December 2, am. A British mom had sex with a year-old boy after luring him and a pal to her home after watching them play soccer, a court was told this week. Mother of three Teah Vincent, 32, has admitted having sex with the youngster at her home in Gloucestershire — but claimed he told her he was 16, the legal age of consent in the UK, according to the Sun. However, Gloucester Crown Court was told that the boy had told her he was just 14 and still at school soon after she invited him and a friend inside for a drink of water after watching them play soccer nearby. When the boy agreed to go upstairs with Vincent, he expected to watch TV or play video games — but the mom stripped and initiated sex, the court was told about the October incident. Vincent has pleaded not guilty to having sexual intercourse with an underage boy, insisting that he had told her he was 16 at the time.

A design for a card I made for my boyfriend out of various J. Leyendecker images. The font was a bit of a bastard to do, but it worked in the end. I did this as I was not happy with the ones you could get in the shops, and decided to make one myself. Shame I did not make it a month or two ago or I could have sold it to some card company and made a fortune.

During the first seven decades of the 20th century, a specific form of Polari was developed by gay men and lesbians in urban centres of the United Kingdom within established LGBT communities. Although there are differences, contemporary British gay slang has adopted many Polari words.
