Massachusetts education officials have released guidance for school nurses, who now have an even more critical role in the health and safety of students during the coronavirus pandemic. Amid the pandemic, schools must have a designated medical waiting room for students who have symptoms of coronavirus, which can include fever and a cough. That room will keep a student with a suspected case separate from other students until they can be picked up by a caregiver. Any staff supervising children in that waiting room must wear personal protective equipment, also known as PPE.
